A Passion for Service
At Viles & Beckman we strive to help our team live out their passion for making a difference in our community in and out of the office. Our team is dedicated to serving our local community by advocating for their needs in and out of the courtroom. Our team member, Tonya Kendall, came to our leadership team this year sharing that she had a passion for service and asked for help to express that passion in our community. Our firm took the opportunity to spread the service mindset that Tonya embodies and implement our community service days. Once a month, members of our team take time out of their week to volunteer at the mobile food pantry. Through these service days our team works rain or shine to give back to our community by assisting those most in need. Recently, some members of our team traded cases for cutlery to volunteer at Sam’s Community Café & Kitchen and Community Market.
Expect More, Receive More: Legal Support That Feels Like Family
A Vision for Our Community
Sam’s Community Café & Kitchen is a part of the Community Cooperative, dedicated to eliminating hunger and homelessness in Southwest Florida. At Viles & Beckman we support our clients through their most challenging life events by fighting for all their needs as if they were our own family. This promise does not end with our client’s legal needs but extends to our community’s needs while our neighbors experience the challenge of battling hunger.
A Meaningful Change
The Community Market works toward long-term hunger elimination while providing choice and a voice to the hungry. They are a different model of food pantry that allows customers to choose their own food off their market shelves, reducing the food waste that occurs with other food pantry models. Their model allows customers to shop for the specific foods that fit their family’s needs from the shelves of the Community Market. This allows families to take things such as cultural and dietary needs into consideration, which are typically overlooked in the traditional food pantry model. We love to partner with the Community Cooperative because they take a person’s whole life into consideration to meet them where they are and serve their unique needs. We are dedicated to providing the same level of care and consideration to every client when we handle their case.
Sam’s Community Cafe also provides hot meals for those in need in Fort Myers. When we volunteered our team was able to assist with preparing and serving the food. By helping to provide these services with a warm smile we were able to do our part to address food insecurity in our area, but also reinforce community bonds.
A Continued Mission for Service
Our work in the community is far from over. The Viles & Beckman Foundation, inspired by the legacy of our founding partner, Marcus W. Viles, is dedicated to making a lasting impact across Southwest Florida. Through both our volunteer efforts and the Foundation’s initiatives, we aim to empower the next generation and create positive change that extends beyond our legal practice.
At Viles & Beckman, we believe that true success is measured by the difference we make in the lives of others. We are committed to continuing our mission of service, whether through partnerships with organizations like Community Cooperative or through our own Foundation’s work. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient community.
Addressing Food Insecurity
Food insecurity is a significant issue facing many families in our community, and it’s important to know that help is available. Community Cooperative’s Mobile Food Pantries offer vital access to fresh food and essential services for those in need. If you or a loved one is struggling with food access, we encourage you to explore the valuable resources provided by this incredible organization. You can find more information about the Mobile Food Pantry and its schedule here.
As our community recently braced for Hurricane Milton, we were reminded of the importance of organizations that provide vital support for those in need. Following a hurricane, there can be large numbers of families without homes or access to food who need assistance from organizations such as the Community Cooperative.
