Founded this year by Michael, Marcus, and Kayla, the Viles & Beckman Foundation was established with a deep commitment to making a positive and lasting impact on the youth in Southwest Florida.
Sadly, this year, we faced the untimely loss of Marcus Viles. His vision and passion were integral to the foundation’s creation, and his spirit continues to guide our efforts. Despite this loss, Michael and Kayla remain more dedicated than ever to growing the foundation and enhancing our community initiatives in 2024 and beyond.
However, our reflections are tempered by a heart-wrenching reality: the estimated number of people, including vulnerable children, living on our streets has risen from 560 in 2022 to a staggering 820 in 2023 in Lee County alone.
Behind these numbers are young lives filled with potential, overshadowed by the hardships of homelessness. Children who should be focused on learning and playing are instead facing life’s harshest challenges. At the Viles & Beckman Foundation, we are deeply committed to reversing this trend, providing stability, care, and educational support to these children. The Viles & Beckman Foundation is already striving to transform their lives — we hope to provide a beacon of hope, an investment in a brighter future.
Expect More, Receive More: Legal Support That Feels Like Family
In our inaugural year, we made an incredible impact. We awarded a $2,500 scholarship to Jordan Persad-Tirone, an inspiring young man from Naples, Florida, pursuing his education at Kennesaw State University. Additionally, we partnered with Project Access to provide meals and necessities to families of homeless children in Lee County during the holidays. These children are living in cars, on the streets, or in motel rooms while striving to complete their education.
As we reflect on 2023, we invite you to be part of something powerful in 2024. Our plans include more scholarship opportunities, a backpack lunch program for children in need, a back-to-school program for support to educators and students, continued support for Project Access, and more.
Whether large or small, every donation directly benefits the youth of Southwest Florida, providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
